A new reign begins on the GW Amp site today. A new herald of the Site Manager title has been chosen and his name is Wyat_Hawke.
For those unaware, outstanding staffer/member Kanna recently stepped down as Site Manager for the site. In his departure, a new SM was sought to fill in the void. Kanna will be missed as staffer but I am pretty sure he isn't completely leaving the site. I would like to be one of the first to thank him for his time and effort he placed into the site on a daily basis. Also please give congratulations to Wyat in his new position for the site.
With Wyat taking over as SM, we are considering opening up to take on new staffers. Stay tuned for news on seeking out site assistance. If anyone has any questions feel free to contact Wyat or myself.
Stay tuned to Gameamp.com for more news on Guild Wars.

New desktop images have been placed up on the official site for HJ for players to pick up. Four images have been placed up on the site featuring different character types against a solid background. They aren't fabulous but still pretty to look at. If you want to take a look at the images and maybe pick one up for your desktop, you can find them here.

Want to get into the video game industry? Well here's a great chance for you to do so. Hero's Journey is looking for new staff members to join their team. The first position that they are searching for is for new script writers. The script writers are in charge of helping to write and design quests, wyr, heroes, and in-game storylines. Content Writers use their imagination to give the world life through words and events. Also being looked for are new Level Builders who are part of our World team, and use the incredible HeroBlade tool to sculpt, paint, and assemble the landscape of Hero's Journey. This process, too, requires a powerful imagination, but also an eye for shapes, space, and color.
In order to apply, click here and click on the job of your choice for full job requirements. Don't live in the area? That's fine, these jobs are all offsite and can be worked on from home! Apply today!

The Hero Engine was the latest hot topic for MMORPG.com at the Austin Games Conference. The MMORPG article features a brief discussion as to the details of middleware and a lot about emerging middleware companies, and then finally things get relevant with an explaination about what these “middleware” companies have to do with the average online gamer.
| QUOTE | What do companies like these mean for the online gamer? Two things mainly:
Faster concept and development to test. With a complete solution available to them, game companies can concentrate on game design and production. Players will see faster game development. Already MMOG companies are talking in terms of 3 to 4 year development cycles when using the development tools available to them instead of 4 to 6. A complete set of MMOG tools might mean cutting that down even further. Real time distribution and balancing of server loads. A single seamless world if the developers so choose, is in sight. What about not crashing a zone with too many players? Sounds good to me! |
I’m sure other important stuff was mentioned, so why don’t you soothe your curiosity and check out the article HERE!

RPG Vault recently interviewed with Simutronics’ Neil Harris about their upcoming project, Hero’s Journey. Harris chatted briefly about the HeroEngine that he describes as a “complete solution for MMO developers.”
| QUOTE | | With HeroEngine, MMO developers can shave the first two years off their development cycle and eliminate technology risk - with it, they are sure it works out of the box. Since we are also MMO game developers, it was designed to work the way we think, and developers really like the way work flows and the way it brings the team together throughout the project. It works very differently and much better than anything else out there. |
Smells like confidence! Harris describes the companies policy on graphics as being “insanely ambitious about game features” and he goes on to list exactly how Simutronics has been tackling the game design. This interview is two pages long and packed with heroic information so click HERE to view the full text.

A new article has been put up on the site, Hero's Hall, which is a website dedicated to Hero's Journey. The new article spans five pages and goes on about the customization process of the game and how it will be almost impossible for there to be two characters that are exactly alike. And don't worry, the HeroEngine is mentioned at least a dozen times for those of you who were worried that the team wouldn't find a way to cross promote it again.
The article does go very in depth on everything that you'll be able to do in order to keep your character unique. Another big plus about this article that is sure to please many gamers out there is the long section which promises that the team will do everything it's power to break the cycle of 'get quest, kill monsters, deliver item, wash, rinse, repeat'. The team is commited to providing players with a fabulous and unique playing experience and I, for one, am curious to see how they pull it off. You can read the full article here.
