This is a new forum (new since the last time I stopped in). Anyway I just wanted to say that I love RP, and would be interested in setting up an RP community (Guild/Alliance/Town).
If anyone is interested leave me a PM and we can start working out the details. I typically do a lot of story writing as well but until I have a better feel for what kind of character I'll be playing probably won't start establishing his background.
If anyone is interested in reading some of my current stories from SWG (Star Wars Galaxies) let me know and I can direct you to a few of them. Although be warned while I enjoy writing I'm terrible at it.

I'm a Roleplayer myself. But I like to learn the game a bit, and get a feel for it before I create any kind of background. I want to make sure the background I create fits perfectly in the world.
And give us some linkage! I love stories.

I can't play without RP-ing anymore. But I am no expert on it at all. I only started taking my chartacters more serious since a year or so. At the moment I need to have a story before I even bother creating a new hero. It is just no fun to just smash and slash.
But as Jeni said, it will be quite hard to come up with a great background if it is still very unclear how HJ's world looks like and what our characters might look like. However, that should not really stop us/you/me. Maybe it will not be fitting in HJ's world eventually, but it might still be fun. Through out some ideas and I'll try to jump in.
And of course I would love to read some of your stories from SWG. And let us be the judge of your terribleness :)

Anyway if you’re interested in some Star Wars Sci-Fi type stories feel free to check them out, as well as the rest of the site. There are far better writers than me on the site.
As to RP in Hero’s Journey, I typically know exactly what I’m going to do based on the Race and Profession concepts. So I usually try to have something going as the game hits so I can begin RP’ing at the same time I begin my character. So hopefully in the next few months I will have the workings all set.
Considering HJ's is mainly a Fantasy setting I'll take some liberties as I start. And "Elanthia" is also the setting of Gemstone III a MUD by Simu that I used to play. I had a Dark Elf character there named Queleri so I may just take some liberties in using what I know of Gemstone III and plug it in to fill the gaps when I start setting up my character.
But I too really need to have the RP foundation before I create the character so that I know how I'm going to fit in. RP is what really makes games fun for me, I can hack and slash anywhere but if people aren't RP'ing it quickly gets boring.

Wow, Hashum. You are not kidding when you said you like writing. I read through your first story. Eventhough I dislike anything SW, I really enjoyed your stuff. I will definately read the rest too. But I just wanted to let you know you have great storytelling talent. I can't wait to see how Hashum will be faring in Elanthia.

What's funny is that as I mentioned I had a Character named Queleri in "Elanthia" in Gemstone III. Well I had sucked my nephew into playing that game and created a character for him (which he used unti he quit the game). His character was "Hashum".
When I started playing SWG I needed a "human" name as I didn't think Queleri was good for a human. So I stole Hashum back. Now I'm rather attached to both names. Not sure which route I'll go in HJ. Typically I prefer the Elvish races so I maybe back to Queleri here, we'll have to see.
Hope to have a foundation story set up by the end of this month.
P.S.~ How can you hate SW?!!!!! Are you a youngling? I only caught the tail end of this SW movement however SW is by far my favorite epic storyline of all time!

So what are most of you roleplayers playing at the moment? Also as a result of no information on the Burlorg culture I had to change the culture in my story to Ukar, hense the edit in there. I just don't like posting OOC information in an IC thread so thought I'd post that here.

If you like RP, and Sci-Fi, then you need to check out EVE Online. Colossal universe to explore, and INSANE amount of different job paths, completely player driven crafting system and economy, all on just one server that typically has a minimum of 20,000 players online at any given time.
Please belive me when I say that no game has EVER made me feel so much like Han Solo. Whether I'm greasing the palms of officials to gain safe passage for my illegal cargo through their domain, Warping out of an overmatched firefight by the skin of my teeth, hunting pirates out in low security space, or participating in huge, glorious sieges against giant warships and space stations that belong to rival corporations, I always feel like a stone cold badass.
Except when I get jumped by mad pirates while flying alone and one of my favorite ships (which I forgot to insure) gets blown up. That tends to make me curl up like a fetus under my computer desk.

It's hard to get an idea of scale there, but some of the ships in that video approach the Death Star in terms of size. XD
And if combat isn't your thing, there are at least a hundred other jobs and roles that you can fulfill that would never put you in the line of fire.
Anyway yeah, that's what I'm killing time with until HJ goes live. A warning though, EVE takes a lot of work to be good at. Only the hardcore need apply.
